As a bachelor，I often participate in activities where I can meet people.One time when I was on a committee planning a Halloween party，another volunteer asked me to drive her to the country to gather cornstalks for decorations.She didn''t have a car，so I agreed.
After some futile searching，we pulled into a filling station to find out if there were any cornfields in the vicinity."No cornfields，" the attendant replied."But there''s a cozy motel two miles down the road."
독신인 난 사람들과 어울리는 활동에 자주 참여한다. 한 번은 핼러윈 파티를 준비하는 위원회의 멤버가 됐는데 여성 멤버 한 사람이 장식하는 데 쓸 수수대를 구하러 시골로 나가야 하니 드라이브를 하자고 하는 것이었다. 그녀에겐 차가 없었으므로 내 차로 드라이브하기로 했다.
한참 찾아봐도 수수밭은 없었으므로 주유소에 가서 그 근방에 수수밭이 없느냐고 물었다. "수수밭은 없어요. 하지만 2마일만 더 가면 아담한 모텔이 있어요. " 주유소 사람의 말이었다.
